Ottawa approved Jackpine oilsands mine expansion

The plan of Shell Canada’s Jackpine oilsands mine expansion has been approved from Ottawa, despite the environment minister’s view that it’s “likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.”

In a statement publied Friday, Leona Aglukkaq who is the Environment Minister concluded that the effects from the 100.000 barrel per day expansion are “justified in the circumstances.”
